Binder’s search is built to let you describe what you’re looking for the way you’d say it out loud.

Search basics

The Search tab (magnifying-glass icon) searches across every entry and every item inside collections. Results appear as a flat list — collection items show “in [Collection Title]” so you know where they live.

Type anything and results update as you type.

Type filter chips

Below the search field is a row of chips — one per entry type, plus All. Tap a chip to restrict results to that type.

Natural-language queries

Binder understands phrases, not just keywords:

  • “notes from last week”
  • “unticked list items”
  • “recommendations in London”
  • “voice memos this month”

Structured filters Binder recognises are shown as coloured badges below the search field, so you can see what was understood.

Command palette (macOS)

For the fastest path to an entry, use the command palette — double-tap Shift to open a floating search-and-action overlay. Best when you already know roughly what you’re after; use the Search tab when you want to browse and refine.

Find in view (macOS)

Inside a detail view, ⌘F opens a find bar for the current entry’s text. ⌘G and ⇧⌘G jump to the next / previous match.
