On macOS, you can drag files and photos from Finder directly onto Binder’s journal list or into a collection — no import sheet, no file picker.
What happens when you drop
| What you drop | What Binder creates |
|---|---|
| One or more images | A single Photo Gallery entry — first image as cover, the rest in the gallery |
| One or more non-image files | One File entry per file |
| A mix of images and files | One Photo Gallery for the images + one File entry per non-image |
Where you can drop
- Journal list — creates entries in your main journal
- Collection detail view — creates items inside that collection
While dragging, the drop target highlights with an accent-coloured border and a “Drop images or files to add” label, so you know it’s ready.
What gets imported
Binder makes its own copy of the file. Moving, renaming, or deleting the original afterwards won’t affect the entry.
iOS
Drag and drop from Finder is macOS only. On iOS, use the share button from the Files or Photos app, or the + button inside Binder.
